SEAFORD KARATE COMPETITION 2017
DOWNS LEISURE CENTRE
SEAFORD

Sensei Chris Kent took Kicks Karate Students Nicola Green; Kathy Turtle; Laura Tully – Green; Zara Preston and Juniors Billy Brown; Regan Maher; and Polly Piercy to this Well Organised, and Well Established Annual Grass Roots Level Competition organised by Martin Dean of Seaford Karate Club. We were also fortunate to have Bob Preston with us, and he represented Kicks as an official through out the competition.
For most of the students this was their first Karate Competition. Everyone went along very much with the idea of gaining valuable experience and gaining greater understanding of standards and requirements for Competition Kata and Kumite.
In the Adults Kathy and Laura competed in the Kata. Both were pleased to get their through the first round, and to be able to perform a second kata before being knocked out in this second section. All three Juniors also participated in Kata.
Kathy, Zara and Nicola all participated in the Senior Kumite and all gained valuable experience in their first round. In the Kumite Billy and Regan were in the busy Boys and Girls Kumite 10 -12 Years Old. Billy won his first two fights placing him in the quarter finals before being knocked out of this section. Regan won her first three fights placing her in the semi finals, and meaning she came away with Joint 3rd Place. A great achievement for Regan in her first competition, and a promising stepping stone for future events. Well done to all our students who participated, and represented us so well both on and off the mats.
