IKF ENGLISH OPEN LIGHT CONTINUOUS KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS

IKF ENGLISH OPEN LIGHT CONTINUOUS KICKBOXING 2018

SUNDAY 18TH NOVEMBER

LORDSWOOD LEISURE CENTRE, CHATHAM , KENT

Kicks fighters Scott Ellis (Eastbourne) and Regan Maher ((Brighton ) along with Eastbourne & Brighton Coaches Stitch Sayers and Tiffany Williams attended this event sanctioned by International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) and promoted by Colin Payne of TKO Elite Gym.

These events are always very well organised, and this one ran like clockwork. One ring was in operation throughout the day, and all fighters as a result were  supported and cheered on by all in attendance.

Brighton Junior Fighter Regan Maher went straight into the final in the Female 10 – 13 Years (45kg and Under Category).  She was matched against D. Morrell from Freestyle Combat Academy over 3 x 1.5 Minute Rounds. Three rounds of non – stop action from both girls who were both in it to win it. Regan dominating with her very strong kicks both to the body and head along with her sharp hand combinations, but her opponent very much a forward fighter who was keen to pressurise Regan at every opportunity.  A well earnt win to Regan, and now the 2017/ 2018 IKF English Open Champion in the 10 – 13 Years / 45 Kgs & Under.

Scott Ellis from Kicks Eastbourne was in the Men’s – 70Kg Category. This was one of the largest sections.  Scott beat N. Bacon from the well schooled paragon gym in the quarter finals,  as well as J. Kent from Kent University Gym in the Semi Finals to face Ben Scott (Dragons) in the final.  As in his previous two fights Scott showed his ability to mix his techniques up, to work on the offensive , but also use his ring craft and time when on the defensive. A dominant performance gave him the win, and established him as 2018 IKF English Open Tournament Champion in the – 70kg Category.

Well done to our Kicks Fighters Regan and Scott.  Our New 2018 IKF English Open Light Continuous Kickboxing Champions.
