Phil began practicing Aikido at Sussex University in 1998; a time when the club was already affiliated to Christian Tissier Shihan through Pascal Durchon — a long-term student and teacher in his own right. After being drawn in by the enjoyment of practice, he committed to regular training in the UK, Europe and Japan. Heavily influenced by Tissier, but with a keen interest in Seishiro Endo, Phil is now the Technical Director of Brighton Aikikai, and ensures our demanding standards are maintained in accordance with the Aikikai Syllabus.
